Bellevue City Council Recognizes Girl Scouts' Centennial

The Girl Scouts of Western Washington were on hand at the Bellevue City Council to mark the national group's 100th anniversary.

The Bellevue City Council declared 2012 the "Year of the Girl" in honor of the Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary at the city council meeting Monday night -- with plenty of Girl Scouts on hand.

Deputy Mayor Jennifer Robertson, a troop leader and troop cookie manager, read the proclamation. The presented Robertson with a Centennial Pin, and Mayor Conrad Lee with a lapel pin, Robertson said.

The Girls Scouts at the meeting read the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law, and several, including Robertson's daughters, were dressed in vintage Girl Scouts Uniforms, she said.
