Mayor Conrad Lee to Take the Stage for Bellevue Youth Theatre

Conrad Lee, Bellevue’s new mayor, will take a turn on the stage for a benefit performance of the ’s “Singin’ in the Rain.” Local comedian Pat Cashman will narrate for the Jan. 21 event, which raises money for the theater.

Lee, elected by his fellow City Council members this month, will be joined on stage by Councilmember Don Davidson, the previous mayor. The two will play silent film producers and will be joined by 48 youth and adult community members to perform scenes from the hit musical. 

The annual benefit performance, 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, will also feature a silent auction and dinner at the Westin Bellevue, 600 Bellevue Way NE. Tickets are $100. 

In addition to the performance at the Westin, the BYT will present “Singin’ in the Rain” on Jan. 27 and 28 at its usual performance space at 16661 Northup Way. Tickets for these shows are $30.

Proceeds from all three performances will go to the Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation, a volunteer organization currently raising funds for a new theater to accommodate the program’s steady growth.

The “Singin’ in the Rain” Broadway musical was based on the 1952 movie featuring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds. It features popular songs such as “Good Morning” and “Make ‘em Laugh.”
