Sammamish Lacrosse beats Redmond for 10th Win

Headland takes reigns, leads Sammamish past Redmond, advancing team to a 10 – 1 – 0 record on the season.

REDMOND – Attackman Brian Headland picked up where he left off the last time Sammamish faced Redmond in lacrosse – taking the reigns to lead all scorers and win the game. On Wednesday, the senior captain delivered four goals and scooped up three ground balls to lead Sammamish past its rival with10 – 3 defeat at Marymoor Park, taking both meetings with the Mustangs and advancing his team to a 10 – 1 – 0 record on the season.

Headland’s four goals gives him 26 on the season, including three in Sammamish’s 16 – 2 win over Redmond on March 22, places him fifth overall in Division II scoring.

Ryley Martin and Tyvan Schmidt each netted two goals and Sam Chapman had 13 ground balls to set the table of the Sammamish offense.

Sammamish (10-1-0) next faces Highline, Tuesday, April 19 in a 7 p.m. start at Newport High School. Redmond (3-2-0) next faces Gig Harbor, Friday, April 15 in a 7 p.m. start at Peninsula High School.
