What Would You Do With Your Eight Bus Tickets?

The new proposal to save King County Metro transit service by raising car tab fees by $20 includes eight bus tickets that motorists get after paying their tabs. Bellevue Patch asks you: What would you do with your eight tickets?

The King County Council appears to have enough votes to raise car tab fees to stave off cuts to King County Metro Transit service, after Eastside councilwomen Jane Hague and Kathy Lambert threw their support behind it.

They changed their support conditionally -- the new proposal includes the preservation of Eastside routes and an "incentive" program that includes eight bus tickets (worth up to $24) to motorists who pay their tabs.

Because of Hague and Lambert's support, the fee increase could pass with seven votes Monday, which is enough to not need voter approval.

Motorists who won't use the bus tickets have the option of donating them to selected service agencies, where they will be redistributed to people who need them, according to the county.

The county council will vote officially on the issue at its Monday meeting.
