Your Local Market Opens in Bellevue

The crossover organic market opened Friday in the former Safeway location on Bellevue Way NE.

Your Local Market opened its doors in the former Safeway location at the corner of 4th and Bellevue Way NE on Friday.

Shoppers came out in force despite the rain, filling the parking lot. Many milled around, trying product samples and picking up deli food.

Evelyn Srock, of Bellevue, said she’s happy to have another shopping option near her downtown condo.

“I’m fussy about my fruits and vegetables and meats. It looks good here, and it’s within walking distance,” she said.

The company says its product mix is 80 percent natural and organic with a 20 percent blend of  everyday products.

The store opening also marks the beginning of online grocery ordering and delivery within three miles of the store or curbside pickup right out front the company said in a press release.

The store has so far hired more than 100 people.

Before opening Your Local Market, co-founder Jason Brown and Michael Johnson have had a long history in specialty retail included at Right to Nature Hometown Market and Organic to Go, the nation’s first fast casual retailer to be certified organic by Quality Assurance International.

Your Local Market will be hosting its second community benefit on Thursday, Dec. 1, for the benefit of The Boys & Girls Club of Bellevue. From 5 - 7:30 pm that evening, a sampling of wines and beer, and fresh-made local foods will also be available. Additionally during this time, Your LocalMarket will host a silent auction with door prizes and music.
