WSDOT doesn't have the power and control…Read More to which you give them credit (with the exception of the tolling fiasco-that company should have been fired or sued for lost revenue at the onstart of the problems). WSDOT is at the whim of our Governor and Legislature and does not control the purse strings. Sadly, we elect and re-elect, again and again, politicians of the same mindset, expecting different results. Of course, that is a big part of the problem isn't it? The government(s) in our state (city, county, state) don't know HOW to control purse strings (or choose not to). How so many of our elected officals manage to become so wealthy is completely beyond me. Somehow, they can't seem to manage to convert their personal common sense, financial "smartness" and budgeting skills to our state's budget.
