Bellevue Middle School Students Demo Innovative App This Week

A middle school team at Open Window School in Bellevue are one of eight national winning app teams in the Verizon Innovative App Challenge. Open Window School won for their HikeAbout app, which offers maps for hiking trails and safety information for hikers.

The HikeAbout app is now available for download in the Google Play store and this week the students head to the East Coast courtesy of Verizon to present HikeAbout at the national Technology Student Association (TSA) conference on Sunday, June 29. 7,000 students, teachers and parents are expected to attend.

The students also previously received Samsung Galaxy tablets, a $20K grant for their school and guidance from a MIT mentor while developing the app.
