Takhmina Dzhuraeva Named Bellevue College Student Trustee

Bellevue College student Takhmina Dzhuraeva has been appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to serve as the student trustee on the Bellevue College Board of Trustees, according to a Bellevue College press release.

Bellevue College student Takhmina Dzhuraeva has been appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to serve as the student trustee on the Bellevue College Board of Trustees, according to a Bellevue College press release.  

Dzhuraeva, 23, is an international student from Tajikistan who studied architecture before coming to Bellevue, according to the college. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design in 2012 from Bellevue College. She is now in the college's Bachelor’s Degree program.

Dzhuraeva served as the Associated Student Government president in 2012-13.

Dzhuraeva succeeds Robert Rowe, the college's first student trustee and the first student trustee in the state. According to the college, student trustees have the same duties and powers of other college trustees, except for matters related to hiring, discipline or tenure or faculty and personnel, or any matters pertaining to collective bargaining agreements.

Dzhuraeva's term lasts until June 30, 2014.
