Bellevue Builds Citizen Committee for East Link Rail Project

Bellevue residents are encouraged to apply to a new citizen advisory committee to help guide the city on the permitting process for Sound Transit's East Link light rail project.

Interested in Sound Transit's East Link project? Bellevue residents are encouraged to apply to a new citizen advisory committee to help guide the city on the permitting process for Sound Transit's East Link light rail project.

According to the city, members of the citizen advisory committee will take public comments and provide guidance to decision makers as part of the city’s permit review and approval process for East Link light rail.

Sound Transit, which will build and operate East Link, will begin to apply for design and mitigation permits soon. The council identified a CAC as necessary to represent community, neighborhood and citywide interests during the permit review process, according to a city announcement.

Construction on East Link is expected to begin 2015. The 14-mile line that will connect Seattle's Central Link with the Eastside through Mercer Island, Bellevue and Redmond will cost $2.8 billion and is expected to open in 2023.

The city provided the following information on how to apply:
