Bellevue Firefighters Grow Moustaches in 'Movember' for Men's Health

In 2011, more than 854,000 men around the world grew moustaches for Movember, raising $126.3 million to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. This year, the Bellevue Fire Department is participating for the second year in a row.

Firefighters in the Bellevue Fire Department are among the thousands of men participating in Movember -- a fun, worldwide effort to raise money and awareness for men's health issues, specifically initiatives and testicular cancer initatives.

You can follow the firefighters' progress -- their staches and how much they've raised -- on their Movember network page.

According to their website, it's the second year in a row that the Bellevue firefighters are participating in the event.

Are any other people or groups in Bellevue participating in "Movember?" Tell us in the comments.

According to the Movember Web site at us.movember.com, during November each year, thousands of men grow their moustaches, gathering pledges and sponsorships.

Once registered at movember.com, men start Movember 1 clean shaven. For the rest of the month, these men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery, according to the website. Women supporting the effort are called Mo Sistas.
