Bellevue Patch Whiz Kid: Bellevue Student Nominated for Regional Boys & Girls Clubs Youth Of The Year

Name: Mutile Musee

School: Junior at Bellevue High School

Accomplishments: Musee, 16 years old, is the president of ’s Keystone Leadership Group, heads up local service groups there, and started a mentoring program for youth. Next week, she will compete at Qwest field to go on to the regional competition for Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year.

Keys to Awesomeness: Lance Latimer, teen services director at the Boys & Girls Club of Bellevue, nominated Musee because she has shown exceptional leadership initiative, he says. She has seemingly boundless energy to assist and coordinate service projects through the Keystone Leadership Group, and was elected president of that group. She is in charge of the groups student store, and has organized many service projects, including Paint a Better Tomorrow, a project in which students painted apartments for single parents. She started a volunteer mentoring program, which paired teens with younger students, and culminated with an academic Olympics event.

At Bellevue High School, Musee wrotd for the school paper, and aspires to become a pediatrician. She also works as a swim instructor at the YMCA, Latimer says.
