Party Planned to Mark End of West Lake Sammamish Road Work

Since March, southbound drivers have had a four-mile detour that brought them off West Lake Sammamish Parkway and onto Interstate 90. Northbound drivers have been driving on one lane of the road.

The four-mile detour on West Lake Sammamish Parkway is nearing completion and the city will hold a community celebration for the spring- and summer-long project.

Since March, southbound drivers and local businesses on West Lake Samm have had to deal with a four-mile detour that brought cars off West Lake Sammamish and onto Interstate 90. Northbound drivers have been driving on one lane of the road.

The construction will be over by October, according to the city, and the city is hosting a party for residents on Oct. 10 at Sambica Camp and Conference Center, located in the middle of the construction zone at 4114 W Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE, Bellevue, WA 98008.

The construction over the spring and summer is the first phase of the five-phase project.

The project includes the construction of a 10-foot wide multi-use path on the west side of the street, a four-foot shoulder on the east side, and one general-purpose travel lanes in each direction, according to the city, as well as improvements for water quality and fish passage improvements.
