Oct. 7: First Friday Workshop at the – Make a Wooden Car

• 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
• For ages five and up with a parent or adult caregiver
• Kids will tour the Michael Cooper: A Sculptural Odyssey exhibit and then build and decorate a wooden car inspired by the exhibit.  A pizza dinner included.
• Cost: $30 per child or $50 for two children. Register on the Smart with Art website. 

Oct. 8: Story time at the downtown Bellevue 

• 11 am
• Today’s story time theme is dinosaurs. Bring your dino loving kid to enjoy stories including Dinosaurs Love Underpants, How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? and Dinosaur Dig.
• Cost: Free

Oct. 9: Drop In Gym at the for Special Needs Kids and Teens

• 2 pm to 4 pm
• Enjoy a new program for special needs kids and teens ages five to fifteen.  Meet up with friends and family to enjoy playing in facility with your child or teen.  The facility is not staffed so supervision by a parent or caregiver is required at all times. Program is offered every other Sunday this fall so next drop in gym will be October 23.
• Cost: $3.25 per resident, $4.50 for non-residents of Mercer Island.

Oct. 11: ParentMap Education Extravaganza at the in Bellevue.

• 5 pm to 8 pm
• Parents are invited to hear presentations by experts on parenting and education and receive information on local schools and education programs.  Learn how to fund your child’s college education, how to form positive school and family partnerships, how to manage your tween’s use of everything from cell phones to computer games and how to find the right elementary for your child’s needs.
• There will be several kid-friendly activities and you are welcome to bring your children to the event.

Oct. 11: Presentation at the for Teens and Parents on Community College Options

• 7 pm to 9 pm
• Are you feeling overwhelmed by the potential cost of college or worried that a big four-year college is not the right fit for your teen? Teens and their parents are invited to learn about what is available at many community colleges today.  Community College Administrator Jonathan Brown will share his insights on how community college can often be the right fit for a teen’s education goals and budget.
