Snow on Monday, Shorts on Friday? Forecast Says Snow Possible in Bellevue Monday Night

Bellevue could see a light dusting of snow Monday evening and temperatures in the low 60s by Friday-- practically shorts weather for some.

Bellevue's winter might not be over just yet, but it might feel like it by Friday, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

The forecast says snow showers are likely tonight and that a half an inch of accumulation is possible in Bellevue. A special statement from the NWS indicates the foothills in eastern King County are among the areas with the greatest chance for accumulation, and that some areas could see 1 to 3 inches of accumulation

Temperatures are expected to drop down to 31 degrees overnight. Overnight freezing temperatures are expected to last through Tuesday, according to National Weather Service meteorologists. Daytime highs will be well above freezing -- 45 to 50 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, meteorologists reported.

However, Friday could see a more spring-like high of 60 degrees, according to the weather service, which is warm enough for shorts for many in the Northwest. Both Thursday and Friday are expected to be sunny, with highs expected to be between 57 and 61, according to the National Weather Service.

Major spring snowstorms are rare for the Pacific Northwest, but light dustings do happen from time to time. During a minor snow event in March of 2008, seattlepi.com published a story saying the latest recorded snowfall in the Seattle area was 1.2 inches on April 17, 1972.
