Write the Caption: Driver Spills Load of Apples on I-405

There's no crying over spilled applesauce, so share your clever caption ideas in the comments section below.

The commute through Bellevue is a bit stickier than usual this evening after a driver apparently spilled a load of apples on northbound I-405 near SR 520.

It looks as though most of the fruit has now been pushed to the side of the freeway, and no injuries have been reported.

WSDOT has already made its own puns via Twitter, including "Driver stops and gets out of car to take picture of #405apples. Perhaps they were [apple] sauced. Not a smart idea."

Just for fun, share your best apple jokes by "writing the caption" to the attached image in the comments section below.

C'mon, this is a pretty common headline, it's just another:

Okay, I finaly got my phone to work right and put my videos up. I would put up my pictures but because I was driving, it looks like tennis balls flying by at high speed. I was only going about 20mph through the area.

Well Martha, it could have been worse. While I was on the coast a few months ago, a truck carrying fish guts from the port of Ilwaco overturned on Hwy 101. I didn't see it, but saw photos, what a mess!

Oh Greg, the site of the picture makes me want to loose my lunch (but I won't). Last month I was in Olympia in a training class, on my way home we had major slow down right around JBLM. Long story short a huge Rendering truck lost it's load and we had to swerve around "Huge" parts... That was awful.
Greg Johnston (Editor) January 11, 2013 at 07:11 pm
Eeew Martha, that's even worse!

Martha, I think I was caught right behind that spill in Tacoma. It was over 100 degrees that day, and a number of us -- including me -- just turned off our cars and hung out on the freeway for an hour or two as they decided to stop traffic and sand the road. My car felt "grittier" for weeks with the sand that they used to sop up the juices. But at least I didn't have to drive around any large bits.

Such great captions! "It's an Appleanche!" wins editor's choice, so Janeen, we'll be sending you a Patch tote bag. Honorable mention goes to Randy Corman's "Apple turnover on I-405." Thanks everyone!
