Regardless of your area of study, camp experiences allow you to learn and develop skills that will enhance your job marketability.Consider this: - Play and work in the great outdoors. - Go on active adventures. - Make new friends. - Become a child’s hero. - Learn leadership skills.WHAT HAPPENS ON RECRUITMENT DAY... The YMCAs on the Eastside will host a Summer Staff Recruitment event. This event is for possible new employees and past YMCA employees. Interviewees need to be18 years or older, fill out and submit an employment application, answer interview questions and role play camp scenarios - be part of day in the life of camp. At 12:00 pm you will have the opportunity to complete and turn-in and the hiring paperwork in the library. Bring phone numbers and addresses of references and past employers and/or any other important information you need to include on your application. Interviews and scenarios will be in the gym from 12:30 - 5:00 pm. 12:00 - 5:00 pm March 24 or April 14 RSVP is required to Vicky Hinds at vhinds@seattleymca.org. We will need a minimum of 15 people to host the event. Come prepared and learn about the variety of summer camps you can be a part of and go to ysummer.org/eas. Wear comfortable clothes (formal attire is not needed) and bring your energy. WE ARE HIRING FOR... DAY CAMP COUNSELORS Responsibilities include: supervising a group of children. Planning and implementing program activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate. Maintaining safety and cleanliness standards. Attending staff meetings and trainings. Following YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Maintaining positive relations with parents and other staff. DAY CAMP LEAD COUNSELORS Lead camp counselors embody all of the responsibilities a counselor has, but is a resource and leader to other camp staff. Hired staff are required to attend trainings on June 16th and additional departmental trainings will be during the week of June 11.
