Totally Teal Toast

Please join us in support of The Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research for the first annual Totally Teal Toast, an 80’s themed fundraising bar crawl in downtown Bellevue. It will take place on February 18, 2012, with all net proceeds being donated to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, whose mission is to save lives and reduce suffering through improved treatment, early detection and prevention of ovarian cancer.

“The Totally Teal Toast is our opportunity to not only raise money for a great cause, but to enlighten women about the signs and severity of ovarian cancer.” said Jackelyn Immel, one of the event’s coordinators. “We have lost two people close to our family and watched another one fight this terrible disease, simply because they were not educated on the symptoms. Ovarian cancer is something we take very seriously on a personal level, but we also feel it’s important to raise awareness in a positive light- and what better way to get people involved than a fantastic afternoon of 80’s costumes and cocktails!”

Kicking off at Lot No. 3 in downtown Bellevue, participants will start with their initial toast at 12:30pm and continue down to four other fabulous establishments in the area: Pearl Bar and Dining, Paddy Coynes, Lucky Strike and Earls. With an all out 80’s theme, participants should plan to wear their finest neon gear. Prizes will be given out for best costume with giveaways from Totally Teal Toast sponsors, including the award winning Woodinville Whiskey Company.

“As a new company, we are honored to be invited to participate in this event,” said Brett Carlile, owner of Woodinville Whiskey. “We know many people that have been affected by ovarian cancer, and we really admire the passion and dedication of the Totally Teal Toast team. We couldn’t be more pleased to offer our support.”

The Totally Teal Toast took shape over the past summer after three local sisters, Jessica Shane, Corinne Cope and Jackelyn Immel, lost a second loved one to stage IV ovarian cancer. After researching the disease and listening to so many friends tell similar stories, they realized that ovarian cancer’s deadliness was often due to a lack of symptom recognition. The sisters decided that starting the Totally Teal Toast would not only play a part in the healing process for them, but could potentially save other women from this often overlooked disease. They are hoping for at least 100 participants their first year, with growth potential for years to come.

About Totally Teal Toast

The Totally Teal Toast is in its inaugural year. It is an 80’s bar crawl in downtown Bellevue. It was created by three sisters, on a mission to do two things: enlighten women on ovarian cancer symptoms and raise money for Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research. The Toast was brought to fruition after these sisters, Jackelyn Immel, Jessica Shane and Corinne Cope watched three people close to them fight ovarian cancer.
