Shakespeare Comes to Bridle Trails with Studio East

Bridle Trails State Park's showground will be the stage for a free performance of "Much Ado About Nothing," presented by Studio East, the Kirkland youth theater troupe. The show is June 29.

Shakespeare will be in an outdoor setting at , as Kirkland’s  gives a free performance of "Much Ado About Nothing" at 6 p.m. June 29.

Starting its 20th season,  will re-mount its successful spring production at the park’s main showground. It will feature a cast of 14 local teens and two alumni back for cameo appearances, Sierra Kagen and Emily Fassler.

The park is located at NE 53rd St & 116th Ave NE in Kirkland, on the city line of Bellevue and Kirkland.

"What a great setting, the park is so gorgeous," said Lani Brockman, Studio East artistic director. "The kids are really excited. We've simplified the production. There will be one costume change. It should be really neat -- if the weather is good!"

Much Ado About Nothing is a Shakespeare’s comedy about love and relationships, focusing on two couples: Claudio and Hero, a promised couple who must overcome obstacles before they can wed, and Beatrice and Benedick, long-time verbal sparring partners and confirmed singles who haven’t realized they love each other.

The show is being co-sponsored by the , a non-profit group devoted to protecting, maintaining and enhancing the  486-acre forest park.

The show is at 6 p.m. and free - donations will be accepted -- and Studio East is encouraging all to bring blankets, low-back chairs and a picnic dinner.

The showgrounds are at the 5300 block of 116th Avenue. There is a $10 state parking fee for those without a Washington State Discover Pass.
