Tap Dance Show At Meydenbauer Wednesday to Benefit Japan Relief Effort

Kirkland dance teacher Tim Hickey is producing and emceeing the show at Meydenbauer Center.

“Tap for Joy,” an evening of sole music and dance produced by Kirkland’s Tim Hickey and benefitting the Red Cross relief effort for Japan, will be presented Wednesday evening at Bellevue’s .

Ten tap dancers will join Hickey, also the emcee, in a lively series of performances coinciding with National Tap Dance Day, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The 459 Tap Company will also appear, with tap dancer Ryo Ishiyama paying a special tribute to his homeland.

Other special guests include more than a half dozen performers from Gotta Dance, a Redmond-based organization offering dance education for the past 20 years. Kids will perform Tap Suite, choreographed by Shauna Mindt.

The Full Circle Jazz Ensemble horn section will also be appearing.

Hickey is a longtime local entertainer  who teaches tap dance classes for children and adults in the Redmond area.
