"The (206)" Looks Almost Like "Almost Live"

The YouTube trailers for "The (206)" features "Almost Live" alumni John Keister and Pat Cashman, but no details yet on what the trailers preview. The classic show used to skewer Bellevue, Seattle and anything else in the Northwest.

"East Side Story." "Studs from Microsoft." "Bellevue Vice."

That's how television show "Almost Live" immortalized the suburb of Bellevue late Saturday nights in the 1980s and 1990s. No local city, including Seattle, was safe from skewering.

The SeattlePI.com is reporting that an online teaser trailer of a show that looks a lot like that classic KING5 television comedy show, which for a time had been picked up by the Comedy Central.

The online trailer features "Almost Live" alumni John Keister and Pat Cashman, television and radio comedian and longtime columnist for the Bellevue Reporter

(And before his current print home, Cashman was a columnist for the Eastside Journal. I remember showing him his Inbox of physically mailed mail -- that's how long ago it was -- the first week he started because it happened to be next to my desk.)

However all the previews reveal is that "The (206)" is "intent on bringing comedy back to local TV." Stay tuned.

What was your favorite "Almost Live" sketch? I have to admit, "The Streetwalking Lawyers Of Aurora Avenue" gets me every time. And it's fun to spot the difference between Bellevue Square and Factoria Mall of old, and what it looks like today.

SeattlePI: Is ‘Almost Live’ returning to Seattle?

I remember watching "Lynnwood Beauty Academy" with my mom and her siblings, who grew up in Edmonds, at a young age. As I recall, everyone was laughing hysterically—Lynnwood was always the butt of a lot of jokes at my grandparents' house. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cclhqdQqbeQ

My favorite sketch was "Pyschob---- from Hell ("yeah she's my girl").

Wanted to add a note that re-runs of the original show are still shown every Saturday night after SNL on KING 5. (Thanks, Caitlin.) Caitlin, that's a pretty funny sketch. I remember seeing that on TV, though I can't remember what year that was, because the look is so timeless. Greg, those were funny as well. If anyone is looking for those on YouTube, look for "The Worst Girlfriend in the World." (Yeah, I have probably way spent too much time watching old "Almost Live" sketches.)

No problemo. I occasionally try to stay up for the re-runs, but I usually end up falling asleep on the couch during SNL. Hopefully the show will come back with an earlier air time!

Does anyone remember the Almost Live training films? My favorite was How to hold a Garage Sale. It's currently on YouTube.

I like watching the re-runs now and trying to guess the year based on the shows opening dialog. i.e. "Sonics", "Kingdome", etc.
