Bellevue Firefighter Opens Up About Surviving Breast Cancer

Bellevue firefighter Camari Olson survived breast cancer, and talked with Zhush Portrait of Issaquah as part of the studio's awareness campaign.

Bellevue firefighter Camari Olson recently spoke to Zhush Portrait of Issaquah about surviving breast cancer -- and how it shaped and inspired her life for the better.

"After cancer, when opportunities arose that I might have originally turned down out of fear, I took the challenges," she says in the video. "It's like, if I can beat this cancer why can't I climb Mount Rainier? If I can beat this cancer, why can't I ride my back from Oregon to Canada in three days? And if I can beat this cancer, why can't I take a job as a firefighter?"

The video, in case you can't see it embedded here, is on the Zhush Portrait Facebook page.

The photo studio says on its Facebook page that it plans to post more videos and stories from breast cancer survivors as part of an awareness campaign.

And a hat tip to the Bellevue Firefighters' Facebook page for sharing Zhush Portrait's video.
