Fork Dork: Your Local Market Coming to Downtown Bellevue; Plus, Tasty Fundraisers

Your Local Market will open on Bellevue Way in mid November. Hams & Clams at Woodmark, red wine and red meat at El Gaucho. Plus, what to eat at Fashion's Night Out.

Your Local Market, a natural and organic products market, is set to open in mid November just as the Bellevue Farmers Market closes for the 2011 season. Set to open in the former Safeway space on 410 Bellevue Way NE south of the , Your Local Market boasts of an inventory that will be up to 80 percent natural and organic goods. They will also sell mainstream items.

"We spent the past 15 years creating customer driven natural product retail businesses on and off line and saw a great opportunity to bring everything we’ve learned about what customers want in a grocery store to our home town,” said Your Local Market founder and CEO Jason Brown, a Redmond resident.

“Simply put we provide all of what you would expect in local, organic and natural products as if you were shopping within Whole Foods or our local PCC but you can purchase Coke, Clorox, Charmin or Bayer Aspirin all under the same roof,” he said.

Your Local Market will offer a deli and bakery with specialty meats, wine, cheeses, specialty breads and entrees. Your Local Market will also serve pet food. Shoppers also can go on the website and get their shopping done online for local delivery or curbside pickup.

The slated opening of the store is perfect for downtown residents who will be missing their fix of local produce, just as the Bellevue Farmers Markets close for the winter.

The at on 1717 Bellevue Way NE will close for the season on October 13. The at on 752 108th Ave NE will close for the season on November 19.

Hamming it up and keeping clam at Woodmark

will be hosting Clams and Hams benefiting Hopelink on Friday, September 23 from 6 to 10 pm. For $50 for adults ($25 for children) guests can enjoy food, beer, wine and live music.

Chef de Cuisine R. Paul Hyman will be cooking a traditional clambake, seafood stew, beer battered halibut and a whole roasted pig prepared in “La Caja China,” a coal-fired roasting box.

Seeing Red El Gaucho

will be hosting An Evening of Red in collaboration with on Thursday, September 15.

The evening’s menu will be prepared by Chateau Ste. Michelle Estates culinary director John Sarich. The menu will be paired with wines from Chateau Ste. Michelle.
