It's official: is selling its 50 percent share in Redmond-based MSNBC.com and plans to launch its own news service this fall.
Despite being based in New York, the AP story cites an NBC News executive as saying NBCNews.com will keep a "significant staff in the Seattle area."

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed Sunday.
Microsoft also plans to launch its own Bellevue-based news service this fall, according to The Seattle Times. Bob Visse, general manager of MSN.com, told the AP the new venture will employ about 100 people.
Microsoft currently has about 180 Redmond employees working for MSNBC.com, according to The Seattle Times.
