New York Cupcakes Celebrates New Crossroads Location Aug. 1

New York Cupcakes is celebrating its fifth anniversary and the grand opening of its new location at Crossroads Bellevue shopping center all day Thursday Aug. 1 with mini cupcake samples, hourly door prizes and special prices on cupcake packs.

The cupcake store, which still prepares and bakes its own cakes on site, has moved from its location off Northeast 8th Street to a spot near the movie theater, Firenze Ristorante and Peaks yogurt shop. The mall is making plans to focus medical services in the cupcake store's former location.

The new spot worked out well, said owner Lisa Waxman Johnson.

"We thought we would be a better fit with the restaurants and the yogurt place and the movie theater," she said.

The new spot also is about 300 square feet bigger than the last location, which means the store can now host birthday parties and can rent its space for private events, Waxman Johnson said.

Along with the specials, New York Cupcakes also will hold a raffle with a grand prize of a six-pack of cupcakes every month for a year. Proceeds from the raffle will go to a Crossroads family in need and will be organized, by the Embassy Bible Fellowship Church of Bellevue, she said.
