Z'Tejas in Bellevue Square Closing Doors in January

Z'Tejas in Bellevue Square's The Lodge closing its doors in January. The restaurant has been at its location on the third floor in Bellevue Square since May 2001. Another business has taken over the lease.

Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill in Bellevue Square has announced that its last day will be Jan. 26, 2013.

Another business has taken over the restaurant's lease, but information on what might take its place in the location near The Lodge's third floor walkway was not immediately available.

Bellevue Patch will post an update when that information is available.

The restaurant has been at its location on the third floor in Bellevue Square since May 2001.

Steven A. Micheletti, president and chief executive officer of Z’Tejas, released the following statement about the closure:

“We’ve been in our current space in Bellevue Square for 11 years. When we first opened, we were one of only a handful of restaurants in and around Bellevue Square. During that time the landscape has changed dramatically. Recently we were presented an opportunity for another business to assume the three remaining years of our lease, and decided to pursue that because it makes the most economic sense for us.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our Bellevue Z’Tejas family and loyal guests for 11 years of support. We look forward to celebrating one more holiday season with everyone.”

Z'Tejas offers Southwest- and Mexican-influenced food, such as tacos and fajitas. The Scottsdale-based restaurant has 11 locations, and Bellevue Square was its only location in the Northwest. Although Z’Tejas is closing its doors in Bellevue, the company will open a new location in Phoenix in March 2013.

Micheletti said that the location would be open through the holiday season, which is a big time for the mall and for the holiday festivities happening in downtown Bellevue.

“We want to extend a huge thanks to our hard working team members, loyal guests and community for all your support over the past 11 years,” Micheletti said in a prepared statement. “We are sincerely looking forward to enjoying one last holiday season with our team and patrons.”
