Track 5 Adele mines out conscious and unconscious repertoire of images that reference the masters and the artist’s private reality. Bonnie Braley, writing for the Pike Place Market News states, “Cathy Dickson’s works represent the emotional state of dreams, esoterically using shapes and color to express a psychological environment.” Dickson fills the canvas to its very edges with a feeling of halting starts and quick changes of direction and mood all the while replacing each reversal with energy. Of her work Dickson says, “I like expressing the energy of painting with shapes and shadows winding through space and creating a dream-like world waiting for the next thing to happen.”
Dickson’s work of layered images offers both a jarring mix and a juxtaposition of inventive imagery. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the gallery and is open to the public
