Bellevue City, Transit Brace for Winter Weather, Snowy Commute

The city of Bellevue will have snow plows available if snow occurs during the morning commute, as is forecast. Other agencies also remind people to be prepared.

The city of Bellevue and other local agencies are bracing for winter weather, as a snow storm is expected to hit Western Washington and the Puget Sound area.

Bellevue and King County area is not expected to be as hard hit as the Southwest Washington, according to the National Weather Service. Bellevue may see new snow accumulation of up to 4 inches before 4 p.m., and an additional inch in the evening. Other areas of the state are expecting between 4 and 8 inches of snow, the weather service reported.

The snowfall could make the commute difficult, according to the Weather Service.

Bellevue

The city of Bellevue said that major arterials will be plowed if heavy snow falls as expected, according to a press release. City officials urge motorists to use traction tires or devices, and to drive only if necessary if snowfall resumes.

Motorists can take a peek at the local road conditions through the city of Bellevue live traffic cameras. Local freeways can be seen through the Washington State Department of Transportation's local traffic cameras.

Garbage and Recycling Service
Because of hazardous road conditions, Allied Waste may not service all routes. If your pickup is missed, please put out a double load on your regular collection day next week. Allied Waste offers more information.

Parks Closures and Cancellations
As a general rule, if the Bellevue School District is closed or closes due to a weather event, all Parks & Community Services classes and programs will be cancelled for the entire/remainder of the day. If the school district is on a delayed schedule, then call the parks facility for an updated status report.

King County Metro/Sound Transit

King County Metro Transit continues snow routing Tuesday. Several Eastside routes, including the RapidRide B line through Redmond, were affected by Tuesday's snow fall. Check the King County Metro Transit snow and ice page for the latest details

Several Sound Transit routes through Bellevue, including routes to Lynnwood and to Sea-Tac International Airport, were affected by the snow and may be on snow routes again. Check out the Sound Transit winter weather page for the latest details on your route.

Puget Sound Energy:

The utility company advises residents to keep the toll free number handy in case of a power outage: 1-888-225-5773. The company also reminds residents not to use a charcoal grill, gas grill, generator or camp stove indoors or in a garage in case there is an outage.
