Bellevue Council Candidate Slatter Joins Robinson in Position 6 Race

Bellevue City Council candidates Vandana Slatter and Lynne Robinson have both announced that they will run for the seat currently held by longtime incumbent Don Davidson.

Bellevue City Council candidate Vandana Slatter announced that she will run for Bellevue Council position 6, the seat currently held by longtime incumbent Don Davidson.

That puts her against city Parks and Community Services Board member Lynne Robinson, who announced earlier this year that she will run for the seat.

Davidson has been on the council on and off since 1984 -- he's won six elections, and been appointed to fill vacancies twice.

Slatter, announced her candidacy for Bellevue City Council earlier this year, but did not announce whether she would run against Davidson or Councilman Kevin Wallace, who is in position 4.

“I am excited to serve this great city by bringing a fresh perspective, and a voice on council that represents a changing Bellevue,” said Slatter in a prepared statement announcing her run for position 6. “It is the right time for Bellevue City Council to reflect this change.”

“As an Asian-American woman and a professional in the biotechnology industry, I will serve as a bridge between the City, its diverse communities, and new industries and employers,” said Slatter in her prepared statement. “I also will work proactively with neighboring cities to ensure our region remains a great place to live, learn, work and play.”

Also up for election this year is Bellevue Mayor Conrad Lee in position 2. (The Bellevue City Council chooses a Mayor to hold two-year terms from among the council members.) No other campaign so far is listed by the Public Disclosure Commission against Lee or Wallace.

The 2013 candidate campaign filing period is May 13-17 for online and in person, according to King County Elections. The filing period by mail is open, and the deadline is May 17.
