Wallace's campaign released the following statement Monday on his candidacy:

Bellevue City Councilmember Kevin Wallace announced his candidacy for re-election today.

Kevin’s leadership on the Council has resulted in collaborative solutions on some of the toughest issues the City has ever faced, and it has earned him bi-partisan endorsements from Congressmen Adam Smith and Dave Reichert, Attorney Generals Rob McKenna and Bob Ferguson, Legislators Steve Litzow, Cyrus Habib, Deb Eddy and Andy Hill, Bellevue Mayor Conrad Lee, Deputy Mayor Jennifer Robertson, and Councilmembers John Stokes and Don Davidson.  The campaign has already received over $40,000 in contributions from more than 150 donors.

“I consider it a privilege to serve the people of Bellevue,” said Wallace, who was first elected in 2009.  “I’m proud of this dynamic city and of the strong sense of community we have.  I want to continue to keep Bellevue a quality place for people to live, work and raise a family.”

Under Wallace’s leadership, the City has adopted budgets that maintain essential City programs while increasing funding to first responders and human services without raising tax rates.  “I am proud of the fact that Bellevue made it through the recession without placing additional burdens on our taxpayers, and I am also proud of the fact that we provided a budget that efficiently and effectively delivers on the essential functions Bellevue’s taxpayers expect from their City,” said Wallace. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to work with my fellow Councilmembers to provide balanced, common ground solutions for our community over the next four years.”

Wallace is a member of the Council Leadership Group which successfully negotiated with Sound Transit a collaborative MOU, land use code overlay, and track alignment through Bellevue.  He also represents the City at Eastside Transportation Partnership and the Puget Sound Regional Council Economic Development Board, and he serves as City Council Liaison to the Human Services Commission and Parks Board.
