Bellevue Patch Great Escape: A Quick Trip To Commie-dy

Get away to another time, another place, in "Iron Curtain," the comedic musical about political persuasion

Even though we’re separated by a political boundary, there’s no good reason not to step our toes over the line now and then, especially for a political musical farce.

There’s no escaping the Village Theatre’s production of "Iron Curtain," with its dual draw of humor and music, a recipe for a great escape, especially in the charming historic downtown of Issaquah.

"Iron Curtain" is a musical farce in which two writers are kidnapped to help fix a Broadway play written by the Soviets, and thus the hijinks ensue.

Prices range from $20 for youth, up to $60, and the show runs through April 24 at the Frances J. Gaudette Theatre in Issaquah. Then it moves to the Everett Performing Arts Center through May 22. The Village Theatre also has a family room, just in case you can't leave the little ones.

Village Theatre, founded in 1979, is a leading producer of musical theater in the Pacific Northwest.
