Far Away for the Holidays: Have You Ever Been Far From Home on Christmas?

Home is where the heart is, but have you been far from home for the holiday?

Being a veteran, I have spent a few holidays away from home. None farther away than the Christmas I spent in Afghanistan in 2005. With a 12 and a half hour time difference, it is quite literally on the other side of the world.

I was working on a counter narcotics program for the State Department and really missed being home for the holidays. Fortunately, I was able to take time not long after so I got to celebrate a late Christmas with my family.
