Five Things Weekend Edition

Big fun for all tastes in Bellevue this weekend with BAM artsFair, Bollywood dancing at Meydenbauer Center, and stewardship day at Lewis Creek Park

1. Get the weekend started right with fresh food. The is on Thursdays from 3–7 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church,1717 Bellevue Way NE ). Pets are not allowed at the Thursday markets, but are welcome at the Saturday market, which is at , 752 108th Ave. NE. 

2. Get your arts on this weekend in downtown Bellevue. For three days every July, downtown Bellevue becomes a massive hub of performance art, live music, artist demonstrations and delicious food. Three arts fairs converge -- the Bellevue Arts Museum's artsfair, the Bellevue Festival of the Arts and the Bellevue Downtown Association's Sixth Street Fair. More than 320,000 art enthusiasts seize their once-a-year opportunity to buy unique, handmade works of art. Plus, offers free admission to all of BAM's galleries and a rich variety of free community programs, including the popular kidsfair. The fair begins Friday and runs through the weekend.

3. While you’re downtown enjoying artsFair, don’t forget to bounce up some extra fun for the kiddies. FunRent and Bellevue Parks & Community Services provide entertainment for all ages in a safe and fun environment in Bellevue Downtown Park. Bring your child or just come on your own, and burn off some energy in this interactive fun zone. The cost for the inflatables will be $1 to $2 -- so bring cash. (There is no ATM at the park.) The fun will go on Friday, July 29, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, July 30, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

4. Looking for a little more nature this weekend? Get an up-close look at our local aquatic insects with the . Watch live “bug TV” as we take a close look at the critters from our wetland under a video microscope. Ages 6 years and up. Register at 425-452-6885. Saturday is also Stewardship Day: On July 30, 2011 the . This is a great chance to get out and enjoy the parks, socialize with others who share similar interests, or fulfill school related community service hours.

5. Nightlife anyone? A blockbuster Bollywood dance show brought to you by Dreams, Rashee captures the essence of sun signs (Rashee) through various dance styles like Classical, Techno, Latin, Contemporary and of course Bollywood. The unique characteristics of the sun signs are brought to life in front of you by amazingly talented artists amidst the exquisite ambience created by visuals, lights and your favorite music. The show is open to audiences of all ages. As there are no dialogs the show can be equally enjoyed by all dance lovers independent of familiarity with Hindi. Doors open at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 p.m. on Sunday; tickets range from $12 - $25.
