Five Things You Need to Know: Dec 1

Today is World AIDS Day, and four other things you need to know.

 1. Today is World AIDS Day. The World AIDS Day organization says more than 33 million people worldwide are living with HIV.

2. The Bravern is offering Little Bookworms and Cookie Decoration, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., as part of its holiday season activities. It includes an hour of stories, songs and snacks by the fireplace on level 2, followed by decorating at  at noon.

3. Garden D'Lights is free tonight at the , but advanced reservation is strongly recommended. Remember to bring your printed receipt with you! The park is at the intersection of 124th Avenue Northeast and Main Street. It's a short walk up Main Street to the Garden entrance.

4. Drama presents "Sight Unseen," by Donald Margulies, tonight at 7:30 p.m. at 4333 Factoria Blvd. SE.

5. It was Dec. 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, Ala., galvanizing the fight for desegregation.
