Five Things You Need To Know Today: April 19

There's an open house tonight at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, and a pair of business-oriented meetings at Friends, Philosophy & Tea

1) will host an informational Open House on , with a presentation at 6:30 p.m., at their Seattle Learning Center, located at 3055 112th Ave. NE, Suite 108 in Bellevue. The Bellevue location of this international education process teaches "the underlying sensory-cognitive skills to read, spell, comprehend, and express language," according to the Lindamood-Bell website. This free event is open to the public and will include a presentation about Lindamood-Bell instruction, student demonstrations, and activities for children. Lindamood-Bell staff will be available to answer individual questions. Attendees can register for summer sessions, take a tour of the Learning Center, and enjoy refreshments while learning more about research-based instruction that develops reading, spelling, comprehension, critical thinking, and math skills.

4)  Plan ahead for Wednesday comedy and live music at the . I went recently to the Parlor’s Wednesday open mic night, which is free (!), and I have to say, it’s fun to watch people get up there and get their funny on. If you’re really feeling brave, you can show up at 7 and sign up to tell a few jokes, too. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and is followed by live music in the lounge by Herding Cats.
