Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 19

There's an information session on Bellevue Big Picture choice school this evening.

1. Curious about the new Bellevue choice school, opening in September of 2011? An information session will be held tonight from 7 – 8 p.m. at the , 12111 NE 1st St. is being designed to serve students who may feel lost in a large comprehensive secondary school, need flexibility to learn at their own pace, or learn best in hands-on projects outside the classroom. Enrollment is open now through Feb. 11. Learn more about enrollment at the district website.

2. Sing until your heart is content, or until your repertoire is exhausted, at in Old Bellevue, at 20 103rd Ave. NE. Free karaoke begins at 9 p.m.

3. The girls basketball teams host Liberty today, at 10416 Wolverine Way. Junior varsity plays at 5:30 p.m., and varsity at 7:30 p.m.

4. Story times abound today. At , 1111 110th Ave. NE, you can find infant story time, for children 3 months through 11 months of age, at 11 a.m., and Mother Goose story time, for children ages 3 months through 23 months, at 1:30 p.m. Today is also Russian story time at shopping center, 15600 NE 8th St., from 11 a.m. – noon, at the market stage. All ages are welcome. It’s followed at 1:30 p.m. by family story time, also at the market stage at Crossroads.

5. Get the whole family moving and grooving. This evening, attend a free program at the , 16000 NE 10th St., beginning at 6:30 p.m. Families and kids of all ages are invited to an Experience Dance Program tonight, or at other Bellevue community centers this month.  Discover what type of movement contemporary dance uses.  Learn how a dance is created.  Try a contemporary dance class -- no experience is needed!  The lecture and demonstration will be presented by Eva Stone of The Stone Dance Collective.
