Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 24

There's a public meeting in Kirkland tonight with an opportunity to comment on the I-405 Bellevue to Lynnwood project.

  1.  WSDOT staff will host a public hearing for the I-405 Bellevue to Lynnwood Improvement project where the public can review findings from the environmental assessment and provide comment to a court reporter from 4 – 7 p.m. at Kirkland City Hall, Peter Kirk Room, 123 5th Avenue, Kirkland. .
  2. Once you finish up in Kirkland, you might head to the Bellevue School District’s regular board meeting at 7 p.m. at 12241 Main St, Bellevue for the third Tuesday of the month, unless otherwise noted.  Please check the Bellevue School District's website for current dates and times as meetings are subject to change.   3. Here’s one for the teenagers in your life, you know, to keep busy while you’re at the school board meeting. It’s time to make and post a video book review or trailer on YouTube  for a chance to win a $150 gift card from the King County Library System. The library system is holding its annual"Read.Flip.Win Video Book Review Contest" - which is open to students in middle school, junior high school or high school. Entries are due by July 31—you can read all the details in their announcement here.
  4. Today’s the day for free one-on-one computer assistance for any senior (over 50), at , 1050 160th Ave SE, Bellevue, between 9:30 a.m. and noon. Sit down with a SeniorNet Volunteer who will help with your questions and/or concerns regarding software or hardware issues on a PC (sorry no McIntosh).  .
  5. Looking ahead to summer fun for the kids? The is taking registrations for tee ball, and also is seeking volunteers 18 years and older to help with instruction and kid wrangling. Classes start in July for 3- to 6-year-olds. They meet once a week for one hour with practices taking place during the first half hour followed by a game.
