Habitat for Humanity recently opened a new store in Bellevue to help raise money for its programs (), but that's not the only place to find a deal -- and in some cases, contribute to a cause. Other resale stores are owned or franchised by small business owners, as well.

Buying used goods also helps keep good working items out of landfills -- always a plus in helping the earth.

Bellevue's Goodwill is a sprawling space filled with second-hand treasures waiting to be discovered. A special fashion section features clothing items from designer labels. Job training and free English and computer classes are offered at this location.

The ReDress Consignment Shop is fully stocked with ladies' designer dresses, shirts, pants, coats, suits, accessories and shoes at consignment prices. A look around the store shows apparel in a wide range of sizes and colors appropriate for the season. The items are clean and pressed and ready for their next owners. ReDress was voted best consignment shop in Bellevue in the local newspaper for two years running.

This thrift shop in Bellevue Square provides free clothing for those in need through a voucher and gift certificate program. These vouchers and certificates are distributed to individuals, families and children based on the assessment of the oganizations social service administrator.

Plato's Closet buys and sells the latest looks in brand name, gently-used clothing and accessories for teenage and twenty-something guys and girls. The Heart and Home Thrift Store sells clohes, jewelry, fashion accessories, household goods and furniture and helps with job training.

This hidden gem is an upscale women's consignment boutique. Clothing is displayed for only three months before going back to consigners. Unlike other consignment stores, the tags carry the item's markdown date, so you can see when it will be reduced.
