Patch Picks: Great Galleries, Bellevue

And museums too — don't miss these great places, shows and exhibits around Bellevue

Bellevue Patch invites you to experience art this week, with museum and gallery happenings around town.

1. at is a temporary art gallery just across from the Microsoft Store, but plans to be around at least through March. This week, take advantage: That Art Gal is hosting a "meet the artist" event Friday, March 4, from 6-8:30 p.m. Enjoy a glass of wine and meet artist Steve Jensen.

2. Have you been to the ? There’s still time to enjoy the exhibit: until May 15.

3. Don’t forget about Free First Friday this week at the . With two new exhibits -- the Mysterious Content of Softness and  -- there’s lots to experience at the museum this week. And don’t miss April Surgent’s incredible cameo mural installation, "Into the Surface," showing until April 3. And while you’re there, don’t forget to check out the museum store, which features art and crafts for sale by northwest artists.

4. Experience Rein de Lege at the . The gallery says the artist “is known best for his expressive faces. At times they can be alarming or haunting or intimidating, but a closer look reveals a kindness, a humbleness that is clearly an outward expression of the artist. Using the back of a brush, a flick, a scratch of a nail, or a spray bottle, the artist aggressively, but methodically finds the face amongst ever reduced marks.” De Lege will be on hand Friday, March 4, from 5 – 9 p.m., for an evening that includes wine and refreshments.

5. There are still a few days left to enjoy the February exhibit at the , featuring two well-known Chinese professional painters from the Guan Shanyue Art Museum of Shenzhen, China -- Chen Xiangbo and Wen Zhenfei. The exhibit continues through March 6, from 6–8 p.m.
