Sky Metalwala: Nov. 10 Event to Mark Year of Toddler's Disappearance

The father of Sky Metalwala, the boy reported missing from a car parked on a Bellevue street, and supporters are organizing an event in downtown Redmond to mark the anniversary of the toddler's disappearance.

The father of Sky Metalwala--the boy whose mother said he disappeared from her car parked on a Bellevue street--and his supporters are organizing an event in downtown Redmond on Nov. 10 to mark the one-year anniversary of the toddler's disappearance.

The event will be at Redmond Downtown Park at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, according to a Facebook event posted by the "Find Sky Metalwala" Facebook page managed by Sky's father, Solomon Metalwala.

Sky Metalwala has been missing for one year. We haven't forgotten. Join us at the Downtown Park in Redmond as we mark one year without Sky, and wait for answers.

The park is at 161st Avenue N.E. and Cleveland Street in Redmond.

Sky, who is now 3 years old, was , from the 2600 block of 112th Ave. N.E. in Bellevue when the toddler's mother, Julia Biryukova, said he disappeared from her car.

Biryukova, who is divorced from Solomon Metalwala, told Bellevue Police that she left her son in the car early one Sunday on a Bellevue street when she ran out of gas. She said she left Sky in the car as she took the couple's 4-year-old daughter, Maile, to get help. She told police Sky was gone when she and a friend returned to the car several hours later.

Biryukova and Metalwala had been embroiled in a bitter custody battle at the time of their son's disappearance.

Bellevue police could not corroborate her story of her car breaking down. Police also said that it had been at least two weeks prior to Sky's disappearance since anyone apart from Biryukova had reported seeing the boy.

Metalwala, of Kirkland, has kept the search for his son going, with several widely publicized search campaigns and a vigil for Sky earlier this year.

After the initial interviews, Biryukova stopped talking voluntarily to police, the Bellevue Police reported. However, Biryukova has not been named a suspect, and police said this week that there have been no updates on the case.

Sky and his now-5-year-old sister were at the center of a bitter custody battle between their estranged parents.

Metalwala has been caring for their daughter full time after he won custody of their daughter in December and was awarded full custody earlier this year.
