Total Experience Gospel Choir Holds Concert Today to Benefit Holy Cross Lutheran Amphitheater

Holy Cross Lutheran Church was the recipient of a grant for community spaces. The church will break ground on an amphitheater Aug. 25.

The Total Experience Gospel Choir will sing at a concert today at Holy Cross Lutheran Church to benefit its new amphitheater, slated to begin construction Aug. 25.

The concert, which will be held in the outdoor orchard at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 4315 129th Place SE, will start at 6 p.m. Thursday Aug. 18 with a barbecue. Though the concert and barbecue will be free, tickets will be required. Tickets are free, but to ensure there is plenty of food, the community is asked to RSVP at 425-746-4848 or at hclcchurch@comcast.net.

The church orchard is directly across Factoria Blvd from Newport High School at the corner of Factoria Blvd and Newport Way.

According to a press release from the church, the concert will benefit a Factoria-area community amphitheater that will be built in the Holy Cross orchard as an amenity for the community. All receipts from the Total Experience Gospel Choir’s performance will be donated to the “building to build community” fund, according to the press release. The community will use the amphitheater as a gathering place to experience community and enjoy the diverse gifts of this South Bellevue neighborhood.

The amphitheater is also being built in celebration of Holy Cross' 50 years at the 3-acre site, according to the press release.

The project also received funds from the Pomegranate Center of Issaquah, which benefits outdoor community gathering spaces.  www.pomegranatecenter.org.

Funding has been underway since May 2011 and the actual building will take place Aug. 25-28. The community is also welcome to volunteer to be part of this creative process that includes significant sweat equity over the four days.

The inaugural event for the amphitheater will be a Jubilee Country Fair that will start at noon on Sept. 11, beginning at noon. The Jubilee Country Fair is open to the community.
