UPDATE: Dog Found Safe in Eastgate After Two Months Missing

Two months after running out of his owner's car in Eastgate, Oban was found safely over the weekend.

Oban the missing Whippet dog was reunited with his owner over the weekend after two months, thanks to people who called searchers to find him.

Oban was skinny and slightly injured from being hit by a car on Feb. 2, but he was located and captured by searchers on March 30 in the Eastgate area. Though he had been spotted a number of times over the past few months, Oban was skittish, and would run away if his name was called or if he was approached, searchers said. According to the Facebook page dedicated to his search, Oban was lured out with another dog that he was friendly with.

Among those looking for the dog included professional searchers Three Retrievers Lost Pet Rescue.

On the Facebook page dedicated to the search, Oban's owner Erica Toikka thanked those who spotted the dog and worked hard to get him back safely.

"This entire ordeal has been the hardest thing I have ever had to live through. Losing Oban left a terrible void in my life, and it was so difficult to focus on anything at all, much less balance my life at all," she wrote.

An earlier story in Bellevue Patch mistakenly identified search volunteer Irene Anderson as Oban's owner.
