Youth Connection: Robotics Team Rises to Competition
Interlake's robotics team competed at the international championship for the first time.

After winning the , Saints Robotics travelled to St. Louis on April 27 to square off with teams from around the world in the three day FIRST Robotics Championship.
In their first ever appearance at the international event, the Saints finished with a 5-5 record, placing 38th out of 88 teams present.

In addition to the competition itself, the championship featured numerous workshops designed to help teams gain experience in a wide variety of topics, ranging from engineering tips to leadership skills. The competition was highlighted by appearances by Morgan Freeman, Will.i.am, in addition to a concert featuring the Black Eyed Peas and Willow Smith, along with the release of Neal Bascomb’s The New Cool, a book following a season of the FRC team D’Penguineers.
“It was a really good experience for the members and for the team” says team president Kevin Kimura, “Definitely, thank you for cheering us on and supporting us.”

As the Saints gear down for the summer, the team looks ahead to building off its successes this season in the coming years.
