Life Beyond Binge Eating – Tools and Skills to Get You Started

An estimated 3.5 percent of American women and 2 percent of American men have
binge eating disorder. While binge eating disorder (BED) is a complex disorder
with many symptoms, associated complications, causes and risk factors, help is
available. Join The Moore Center, Washington state's longest standing eating
disorders treatment resource, to learn more about this illness and effective
strategies that will move you forward along the path to recovery.


During this workshop, a team of The Moore Center's expert
therapists and dietitians will explore emotional eating, compulsive overeating
and binge eating, helping you to understand why these habits develop and what
you can do to stop them. You will learn about several practical therapeutic
tools and nutrition strategies and apply these concepts to prepare—and enjoy—a
delicious balanced meal.


Learning Objectives— By the end of this presentation,
participants will be able to:

  • Identify reasons we eat and binge or overeat

  • Recognize patterns of and triggers for eating
    and bingeing

  • Define and engage in mindfulness

  • Apply stress reduction techniques

  • Identify resources for continued learning and

    balanced meal
