911 Instant Messaging (Nationwide)

TM.com...IT'S ABOUT TIME..Why Instant messaging Because Texting won't work. Ref: 4g Americas http://www.4gamericas.org/documents/SMS%20to%20911%20White%20Paper%20Final%20October%202010.pdf

As of 1 July this year, a local Oregon company has offered silent emergency instant messaging via smart phone app or webpage to contact 9-1-1 on a nationwide basis. This subscription based service allows it's users in emergencies to quietly ask for assistance while sharing their current location with public safety during the contact. The app uses your smart device's GPS chip to send your location and help request to the 9-1-1 center closest to you in an emergency. Instant messaging makes sure you can continue to type for help without the worries of lost or delayed text messages and is a live, two way connection. While calling 9-1-1 should always be your first choice, this service was designed for those emergency situations where not speaking offers increased safety and security. The company has been very sensitive of private information concerns; the only time your location is tracked is during an emergency contact (which has to be approved by the user at the time of the contact) once signed off, location tracking stops. 911TM welcomes inquiries regarding service or contracts, we see this service as the answer to the question "How do I get help without someone knowing I'm doing it?". For the students in classroom's across America, for the hear or speech impaired, the bullied or abused...911TM; it's about time.
