Cyber Monday Shopping Can Benefit Bellevue Schools Foundation

Through the Bellevue Schools Foundation website or through a particular link, Amazon.com will donate 7 percent of your purchase to the group, which raises money for VIBES, school activities and tutoring programs and more.

Retailers are hoping that those of you who skipped the Thanksgiving weekend crowds at the mall (or maybe didn’t find what you wanted there) will get online and get out your credit cards for so-called Cyber Monday.

At least one group could benefit from your online shopping. The Bellevue Schools Foundation reminded supporters that if you click through the Bellevue Schools Foundation website (or  click here) to enter Amazon.com, Amazon will donate 7 percent of your purchase to the Foundation at no cost to you. The foundation raises money for school activities and items such as VIBES, the district's volunteer program; AVID, a study skills and college readiness development program in all middle and high schools; grant programs for academics and music and other programs.

The website CyberMonday.com, created by Shop.org, claims to have the best online deals from more than 700 online retailers. (Shop.org is a division of the National Retail Federation).

According to Shop.org’s “eHoliday Survey,” nearly eight in 10 (78.4 percent) retailers will have special promotions on Cyber Monday.

While many deals last longer than just one day, on Monday the website will offer hourly specials. If you want sneak peeks at those, you can sign up for email alerts. Some sites planned to announce their deals on Sunday but many shoppers planned to simply sit at their desks all day Monday and troll the site. (Note to our bosses: Don’t worry—it’s just a suggestion.)

The survey also found that 58.4 percent of workers with Internet access, or 75.9 million people, will shop for holiday gifts from the office this year.
