We are pleased to announce that Washington Governor Jay Inslee has proclaimed the month of April in Washington as Autism Acceptance Month.  Read the full Proclamation: Autism Acceptance Month.

Most are aware that the month of April is identified as Autism Awareness Month.  Additionally, April 2nd is celebrated as International Autism Day.  There are countless gatherings, walks, public presentations and the like throughout the month.  The Autism Society of Washington would like to reinforce the message that we need to “Go Beyond Awareness” into acceptance.

Accept them into your circles of friendships, accept them into clubs and special interest groups, truly accept them and acknowledge them for the skills and talents they have to offer.  We urge you all to welcome individuals with an autism spectrum disorder into all facets of your communities.
