Bellevue Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of Neil Armstrong

Bellevue city buildings will lower their flags to half-staff today in memory of astronaut Neil Armstrong, who died Saturday.

The flags at state and federal facilities also will be lowered, and other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join the recognition.

“Many of us remember watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon and were inspired by his example,” Mayor Conrad Lee said. “He represents the spirit of America to go beyond limits. He’ll be remembered as one of the great explorers of our time and a true American hero.”

Lacking any other technology to use, I made an audio recording on my reel to reel concert tape recorder/player of the TV program of the landing. One of my treasured relics of that time. One of the great moments in 20th century American history. Thanks for your service to America, Neil.
