OK let's be honest here - renaissance fairs aren't just about the jousting, theater shows and oversized turkey legs -- what it really comes down to is the fashion.
The is like stepping into medival wonderland and it wouldn't be possible without hundreds of characters walking around to play the part. Attendees invested countless hours of work into showing off some of the most elaborate costumes I have ever seen.
Frankly, I was just as impressed with the outfits as I was with the grace of their wearers - temperatures reached 90 on the Faire's opening day, but you couldn't tell in the crowd swells of petticoats and leather. The Midsummer Renaissance Faire kicks off it's second weekend tomorrow.
I'm taking a cue from my favorite Bravo TV fashion commentators with a slideshow of some of the best garb I spotted.
