You Know You're from Bellevue When...

In response to the Facebook "You know you're from" trend that is flooding my news feed, Bellevue Patch though we'd open a spot for you to weigh in.

My personal Facebook feed has been filled with statements of nostalgia and reminiscing by my friends, families and acquaintances.

The statements usually start with "You know you're from..." followed by their hometown name and then a memory of something that isn't there anymore, or something that is a shared experience for all.

"You might be from Olympia if‎.... You went to the drive in where Fred Meyers is now. Then, bowling across the street at Lacey Lanes.

"You know you're from Fremont if... You drove around ALL OVER Fremont trying to find where they were shooting part of the "Terminator"."

"You know you're from Bellevue if... You remember shopping at mervyns in ."

(This group is the one that would probably apply to me.)

In my news feed, there happens to be Olympia, Oakland and Fremont. The Bellevue group just started a few hours ago. How would you finish the sentence, "You know you're from Bellevue when..."

I'm still trying to find the Bellevue I remember from my childhood. I think it got stolen by aliens and they dropped another city down from the sky. Ha!

Trisha-Margaret: Not sure why I looked at this story again, but I had to laugh when I read your mention of caged monkeys in the children's department of the Bellevue Square Nordstrom. I wonder why people thought that was a good idea at the time.
