Abduction May Have Been Factor in Wrong-Way Freeway Crash, Renton Police Say

Three hurt in a crash that took place in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at the junction of Interstate 405, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Three people were hospitalized Sunday after a police chase sparked by a possible abduction ended in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5, Renton Police said.

A witness told police that two men forced a woman into a car in the 600 block of Monster Road Southwest shortly before 1 p.m. The witness was able to keep sight of the silver 1997 Saturn until Renton Police caught up to it, according to a statement from the police department.

The driver refused to stop and led police on a two-minute chase into Tukwila, then drove onto the northbound lanes of I-5 at the Southcenter/Interstate 405 exit. The driver immediately turned the car in the opposite direction and headed southbound in the northbound lanes, hitting another vehicle head-on.
